Annual JIP Workshop

Written on mai 11 2026

This week, we gathered all members of our Joint Industry Project for our annual non-intrusive level measurement workshop, kindly hosted by Aker BP ASA at their brand new office in Stavanger. Bringing everyone together in the same room is always one of the highlights of the JIP calendar, and this year was no exception.

The morning session opened with a thorough review of the project’s development progress with sessions covering hardware, software and signal processing. We also had a special session revisiting the fundamentals of non-intrusive level measurement and the Nicoustic technology. With JIP participants engaged across many projects simultaneously, this proved to be a valuable opportunity to establish a shared baseline and ensure all members were aligned before diving into the work ahead.

The afternoon was dedicated to two collaborative group sessions. In the first, we turned the floor over to the future customers, inviting participants to define and describe what the future products should look like from their perspective — a crucial exercise in making sure development stays anchored to real operational needs. The second session shifted focus to the path to commercialisation, with the group working through the testing requirements that must be met before we can move towards an offshore pilot.

The energy and engagement throughout the day reflected both the strength of the collaboration and the growing momentum of the project. We look forward to reporting further progress as we move closer to the pilot phase.
