We are excited to announce the establishment of Joint Industry Project (JIP) 2, which is dedicated to further advancing Nicoustic’s innovative non-intrusive level measurement and piloting it on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. Nicoustic technology aims to leverage Guided Acoustic Waves to deliver accurate and reliable measurements of multiphase levels in pressure vessels such as oil and gas separators without invasive installation.
JIP 2 brings together a diverse group of collaborators, including four operating companies. The project is supported financially by The Research Council of Norway, providing 15.45 million NOK (approximately 1.67 million USD) in addition to the industry funding. The JIP 2 project period is 2027-2028.
The operator partners in JIP 2 are Aker BP ASA, OKEA ASA, ConocoPhillips Skandinavia AS, and Vår Energi ASA. Since 2024, these companies have actively supported Nicoustic’s efforts to develop novel non-intrusive level sensor technology. Fraunhofer IKTS in Dresden (Germany) will support the development of signal processing algorithms, lending their expertise and test facilities to the project. The project also draws on the world-class research infrastructure as well as multiphase flow and separation expertise at the SINTEF Multiphase Flow Laboratory in Trondheim, Norway.
Additional operator participants are welcome to join JIP 2 throughout 2026. For further information or to express interest in participating, please contact Dmitri Gorski, CEO of Nicoustic, at dmitri@nicoustic.com or by phone at +47 418 479 28.
