Nicoustic at ROG.e

Written on oktober 14 2024

Dmitri Gorski and Sergio Zubelli from Nicoustic had a fantastic week at ROG.e in Rio de Janeiro at the end of September. For Dmitri, who worked for Equinor in Brazil for almost three years, it was great to re-visit this beautiful city. The same could definitely be said for Sergio, who is a Rio-native («Carioca»).

The week had a flying start at the Norway in Brazil breakfast reception at the Consul General residence in Rio. Mette Tangen (the Consul General of Norway) and Thomas Conradi Granli (Director of Innovation Norway in Brazil) highlighted the potential that Norwegian industry has in Brazil and encouraged further collaboration.

Nicoustic also had the opportunity to exhibit at the Norwegian pavilion at ROG.e in Rio de Janeiro for one day. The pavilion, hosted by Innovation Norway, was officially opened by the Norwegian Consul General Mette Tangen and quickly became a busy meeting place for discussions on new Norwegian technology in Brasil.

A technical paper, co-authored by Dmitri and Uwe from Nicoustic, was selected for presentation at ROG.e Technical Sessions. Dmitri covered the qualification of the technology for non-intrusive level monitoring in separators for its first offshore trial and showed the first results from the trial that started on the Snorre A platform in June 2024.

Nicoustic also used this opportunity to meet up with the members of the ongoing Joint Industry Project (JIP) in person. Brazilian energy major Petrobras has been a strong supporter of the R&D effort to develop non-intrusive level measurement for separators and other process vessels from the start. With a strong R&D team and lots of insights into deep water operations, they are a valued JIP member and a great partner. A meeting was held at the Petrobras office allowing for technical discussions and planning of the way ahead for non-intrusive level measurement technology development and implementation.

The week was rounded off with a gala dinner at the historic Copacabana Palace Hotel organized by the NBCC (Norwegian Brazilian Chamber of Commerce). The event was very well-attended by representatives from Norwegian and Brazilian industry.

We leave Rio with many new connections made, having once again confirmed that Brazil is going to be in focus when our technology is commercial!
