ONS is the meeting place for energy companies, providing a platform to explore cutting-edge technologies. We were invited to be one of the 18 companies representing The Research Council of Norway (RCN) at their Innovation Park at ONS 2024. RCN early recognized the potential of non-intrusive level measurement and granted Nicoustic support for development of our technology, which has been instrumental in our progressing towards a commercial product.
ONS is held every other year, and this year it is celebrating its 50th anniversary. This year`s theme was IMAGINE! We are honored to have participated and proud to have shared the work we had done developing non-intrusive level measurement.
Nicoustic’s CEO Dmitri Gorski was a featured speaker at the ONS Technical Sessions in Hall 5. Out of a record-high 493 applications, Dmitri was selected to address Challenge 3.1: IMAGINE the next generation greenfield, brownfield, and decommissioning solutions. He discussed the development of our non-intrusive level measurement sensors and their impact on production efficiency, cost reduction, and emission cuts for existing and future assets as well as the ongoing offshore field trial on the Snorre A platform (Equinor).
At the Innovation park, we were able to showcase our state-of-the-art sensors, which utilize guided elastic waves (GEW) to measure levels inside of a process tank in non-intrusive manner, without the need to stop production. Our sensors were mounted in a mock-up separator model half-filled with water. A competition was organized to guess the level of water in the tank. The best way to do that was to tap on the side of the tank, trying to find the level – in a way, this is what our sensors do. The competition was very popular with 162 entrees. The winner was able to guess the level to be exactly 17.2 cm!
