Nicoustic at OTC Brasil

Dmitri Gorski and Sergio Zubelli visited the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) Brasil 2023 in Rio de Janeiro. Rio is a special place for Dmitri, who previously spent 3 years working offshore for Equinor on the Peregrino field. Going back to Rio without the pandemic laws in effect was a pleasure. For Sergio, a Rio-native, this was coming home!

The main reason for visiting OTC was to present the paper «Non-intrusive level measurement using Guided Elastic Waves» in the Innovative Topside Processing section of the conference. The paper, co-authored by Fraunhofer IKTS and Equinor, was well-received by the audience. In addition, Sergio and Dmitri spent two days on the Innovation Norway stand showcasing the Nicoustic technology development to the conference visitors.

A non-intrusive level measurement technology attracted a great deal of attention. The Innovation Norway stand was often crowded and we were honored to have a visit by the Consul General of Norway to Rio de Janeiro, Mette Tangen, who was curious about the innovative Norwegian technologies on display.

Brasil has a booming energy market where both offshore and onshore resources are being developed at an increasing pace. The national energy company Petrobras has undergone some transformations in the recent years, emerging as an innovative and fast-paced company positioned for further growth. Nicoustic has been discussing non-intrusive level sensor technology with the Petrobras R&D team for some time and we were therefore pleased to welcome Luiz Augusto and Fabio at the Innovation Norway stand to meet face to face and discuss future collaboration opportunities.
